In honor of tomorrow night’s premier of Modern Family on abc at 9pm (eastern time), it was about time to turn the spotlight on Sofía Vergara. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Vergara became a TV personality in the 90’s before moving to the US to star in films such as Big Trouble and Madea Goes to Jail. Before landing her break-out role as Gloria on Modern Family, Vergara played Mama Morton in the Chicago revival on Broadway.

Vergara is fully aware of her affect on those attracted to women. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, she jokingly said that she acts all flirtatious when her 20-year old son brings home friends. Later in the interview, Vergara revealed that upon arriving in Hollywood, she dyed her hair brown. That’s right – Sofía Vergara is a natural blonde! After discovering this, Ellen asked Vergara: “Who has more fun, blondes or brunettes?” Vergara replied: “The girls with the bigger boobs.” Vergara knows that her physical traits have gotten her very far in life. She says: “I think that would be ungrateful if I were upset because I’m seen as attractive or sexy. That’s opened so many doors for me in my life.”

Sofía Vergara is not ashamed of her voluptuous figure, but she also does not let it get in her way of expressing her true comedic talent. While she may play vapid, this actress has a good head on her shoulders and a truly honest sense of humor. After watching her interview with Ellen, I realized just how true this was. Vergara knows who she is and what she wants and she’ll  present everything proudly.
